It’s always fun to do the October issue. It gives me a chance to throw in some art and articles that are inspired by the Halloween and Fall season. It’s also the start of a growing online event known as Inktober. If you are not familiar, learn more about it and how you can get involved – I know you will enjoy it! Speaking of ink, we are spotlighting the Derwent Inktense pencils and are giving away a sample in the print issue, (while supplies last), as our “trick or treat” to you. Derwent is also generously providing five 12 piece sets for you to win. We also have a limited quantity of the 6-piece starter sets at a special low price in our store.

We have a little unintentional Adam and Eve theme going on with our reptile article, featuring some of Tanner Danison’s colorful snakes, as well as a work-in-progress of his chameleon. Take a bite out of the apple when you follow the workshop by Susan Rubin that only requires three pencils!

Our featured artist is Sharon SS Kow, whose work I have admired for a long time. As the judge of the 2019 Drawn Together Exhibition, I was honored to select her work as “Best in Show” for the Coloured Pencil Community of Australasia Inc. (www.cpcau.org). Sharon’s art may be simple in subject matter but rich in technique.

Look for tips, news, and new items to round off this issue!

Thank you to all who entered the 2019 Art Competition, we had more entries than ever before. Look for the winners in the December issue, as well as the opening of the online gallery. A special thank you goes out to our judge Paul Hinks.

It is a lot of fun putting together exclusive items for you in our shop. Since they are so limited we send out an email to our “Elite Buyers” (those who have purchased from the store before) for first dibs and sometimes even a discount. This month we have a fantastic “Make it on Metal” kit found nowhere else. It has taken a while for it all to come together, but I know you will love it! It comes with 3 metal pieces to decorate with colored pencils, all the supplies, and easy instructions. We appreciate all who support COLORED PENCIL Magazine with your purchases and in return, help us to grow this medium. www.coloredpencilmag.com/store

Ok, go make some colored pencil art with Inktense or colored pencil with ink and
post to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/coloredpencilmagazine.
