Editor’s Note – August 2019

Rosi Oldenburg is this month’s featured artist, proving that fishing isn’t just for the boys. I have been watching her for years and am so excited to finally be able to  showcase her artwork. We also have a few former featured artists this month, first is Dianna Wallace Soisson with her great article on drawing water and then Philip Schorn shares his journey of how art helped in his battle with cancer. We sure wish him the best
in his recovery and appreciate him sharing his inspiring story with us.

In the Spotlight we have Staedtler’s new line of art products called Design Journey. Look to page 10 to learn more about them and how you can win four different sets, containing 42 pieces, to try out for yourself!

One of the latest trends we’ve seen over the past couple of summers has been rock painting. Use your colored pencils with great results when you follow our tips for success. It is fun and addictive for artists of all levels.
