Artwork must be created specifically for this challenge after February 27, 2026 and submitted by May 31st, 2026.

Entries will be evaluated based on:

Everything You Need to Know!
SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY
Note: Screens may vary by device and Flickr version.
Step 1. Create an Account
You must have a Flickr account to submit and view images.
Step 2. Upload
On Flickr, click the Cloud with Arrow icon on the top black bar (next to the bell) to upload your image to your Photostream.
Step 3. Description
Your description must include:
• Name
• Challenge Name
• Artwork Title
• Size
• Materials Used
• Category (Advanced, Intermediate, or Beginner)
• Short background about your entry (why you chose it, thoughts, tips, etc.)
Optional: Website URL (Instagram or shortened Facebook is ok)
Step 4. Add to Group
Before submitting:
• Set VIEWING PRIVACY = PUBLIC
Then either:
• Click Add to group and search CPM Art Challenge, or
• Go to: www.flickr.com/groups/cpmchallenge
and click Add Photo
⭐ A confirmation star and thank you message will appear shortly before judging begins.
CATEGORY DEFINITIONS
Advanced
You have: (One or more apply)
• Earned money from your artwork
• Received significant recognition or awards
• Taught others (publications, blogs, videos, or classes)
• Won an Intermediate Challenge
• An art degree or extensive formal instruction
Intermediate
You have: (One or more apply)
• At least 2 years of colored pencil experience
• Limited art instruction
• Won a Beginner Challenge
• Progressed to this level
Beginner
Artists who do not qualify for higher categories.
Advancement
• Prize winners are removed from the random drawing pool
• Honorable Mentions remain eligible
• Artists may win once in Beginner and Intermediate before moving up
• Artists may win once per year in Advanced
• Once you advance, you may not return to a lower category
THE RULES
Eligibility
• Open worldwide to active COLORED PENCIL Magazine subscribers, their spouses, and children (up to age 18)
• Artwork must be created after 02/27/26
• Must use your own or copyright-released reference with permission to print
• Must contain at least 80% colored pencil
• Maximum 3 original entries per subscription
• No collaborative works
• No work in progress images or cropped duplicates
Content Standards
• Artwork must be family-friendly (no nudity or vulgarity)
• Entries in violation may be removed without notice
• Entries must be posted to the Flickr group by the deadline
• Images must accurately represent the original artwork
Digital Editing
Photoshop is allowed only for color correction to match the original. Photoshop is not allowed for manipulation, cleanup, or altering artwork
Important:
• Do not work directly on a photocopy or grayscale image
• Line transfers onto your own paper are permitted
Additional Requirements
• CPM may request additional materials, work-in-progress proof, or process details if an entry is questioned
• Winners are contacted via the subscription email on file
• Winners have five days to submit a non-watermarked, high-resolution (300 ppi) image and confirm prize email

Rights Assignment and Warranty
You confirm that:
• You are the copyright holder
• You grant the publisher non-exclusive rights to reproduce the artwork in COLORED PENCIL Magazine, related publications, and associated marketing
• All submitted information is accurate and current
The artist agrees to indemnify the publisher against any claims arising from submitted materials.
Limitation of Rights
Except for the rights granted above, the publisher does not assume responsibility for any additional rights.
